Objetivos	General Desarrollar investigaciones en conservación de la biodiversidad, sanidad y producción animal. Específicos - Evaluar y Conservar la biodiversidad de especies de flora y fauna silvestre. - Estudiar la biodiversidad animal mediante caracterización de agentes patógenos. - Estudiar agentes etiológicos que afectan animales de producción (monogástricos, rumiantes, peces, aves, etc) y especies silvestres de diferentes regiones del país mediante técnicas moleculares y herramientas genómicas. - Elaborar vacunas para el control y/o prevención de enfermedades de alto impacto en la producción animal. - Caracterizar plantas medicinales mediante técnicas convencionales y/o moleculares - Caracterizar animales de producción y ganado criollo

Servicios	- Aislamiento bacteriológico y conteo de microorganismos - Determinación de sexo en animales por métodos moleculares - Diagnóstico molecular de agentes bacterianos y virales - Desarrollo de protocolos de captura y muestreo de fauna silvestre de vida libre (Sección Fauna Silvestre) - Elaboración de planes de manejo para animales silvestres ( Sección Fauna Silvestre) - Conservación y procesamiento de muestras parasitológicas para animales silvestres - Conservación de plantas medicinales y caracterización de especies de interés biomédico - Atención clínica de animales silvestres y exóticos. - Elaboración de planes de manejo para comunidades nativas.
